Wichita’s Top Dentists
The city’s best dentists, as voted by their peers
Kim Benson
Justin Folger
We asked 235 Wichita dentists, as well as 279 randomly selected dental hygienists to give us the master of all referrals: which dentists would they go to, or entrust with their family’s care?
Based solely on the number of votes each dentist received, the results roughly represent the top 10 percent in Wichita. (Please note: Dentists were listed in the categories they were voted into, once the scope of their practices was verified.) No advertising was required to be a part of this list.
We’ve listed each dentist’s primary clinic, along with the dental school they graduated from. All hold either a DDS or DMD degree and are licensed by the Kansas Dental Board. According to the American Dental Association, a DDS (doctor of dental surgery) and a DMD (doctor of dental medicine) are the same degrees. The difference is simply a matter of semantics.
And just so you know, we aren’t endorsing a switch. If you’re happy with your current dentist and the service they provide, then by all means keep seeing them. We’re simply identifying the ones considered top-drawer by their peers, should you or someone you know find themselves in search of a new dentist. Some practice at more than one location, so make sure you know where your appointment is before you get in the car and go.

General Dentists
A general dentist is the primary-care provider for patients of all ages and is responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, management and overall coordination of services related to patients’ oral health needs. Like family practitioners in medicine, they can take care of virtually everything, and may refer patients to specialists.

Cosmetic Dentists
New techniques and materials such as porcelain facings and implants have made cosmetic dentistry the most rapidly growing segment of the profession. It’s also helped create many more pleasing smiles. (Note: Cosmetic dentistry isn't a specialty technically recognized by the American Dental Association.)

They specialize in root canals and the general health of the pulp of the teeth. Usually, these dentists have two or more years of continuing education after graduating from dental school; many limit their practice to endodontics.
